Had a phone call from "Microsoft" and was told our comp. would stop at midnight as the licence would run out...
I made out I was worried and what should I do, made out I couldnt understand just what he wanted me to do. 15mins later.
I told him he was a *%@** lier and a $%#@* so and so..
Then hung up, He rang right back and tried to say some thing but I just said it all again. even louder..
he rang back 4 more times ,it easy to just lift and replace the hand set.
These guys are so ,trying and think we are dumb......

I yelled at that same caller and threatened to call the police if he called again. He didnt.
That scam has been going on for at least a year in various forms.

If I get a call like that I have an easy response.. 'but I have a Mac computer It doesn't use a Microsoft operating system so what are you talking about???'
Admittidly this is a small white lie as I can boot the computer into either Mac or Windows but, I never use Windows side of it for internet, so their phony 'your computer has a virus' phone calls also are pretty useless since it is rare, if ever, that a Mac computer would get a virus

I just had one.
They want to play, I play too.
I can't understand what you want, tell me again. You want me to do what? How does that work? No can't understand, explain it again? Oh dear, what exactly do you mean? Should I wait and ask my son when he comes back? Oh dear, who are you again?..........................................
They hang up, and I have entertainment.
I never abuse them- they are just doing a job, sad as it is.

I treat all telemarketers and scammers the same - I do a bit of 'what does that mean' 'can you repeat that' ' i don't really understand all this' type stuff then i ask them to hold on a minute. Then I put the phone down and walk away. I don't go back to the phone for at least 30 mins. Funnily enough I rarely get calls from the same mob twice.

You guys are good! I'm not ringing any of you, I'll end up with tinnititus and a huge phone bill for no conversation. Nuh! Not me. I only have a mobile and I never get scam phone calls. I am on a couple of social dating "mating" sites, and just lately I've been inundated by blokes in the UK who persist in telling me how much they love me and want to marry me. When I reply with a blast about scamming people, and accusing them of going to the same scamming school to learn the same story, and to write in the same poor English, they get upset with me. Some even pretend to be offended and claim to be criminal lawyers in the USA, and demand an apology. Not in this lifetime. Keep up the good work fighting these no-good scamming pr.cks. Stay strong.

I agree with the "ask them to hold on while you get a pen and leave them hanging" method. Nice easy simple.. and so bloody annoying for the other person. My poor old mum when she was in a nursing home a while back used to do the same to me. I'd ring to say g'day and have a bit of a chat then when the call was finished she'd forget to push the "hangup" button on the phone and just put it down somewhere. The problem was it used to lock my phone and i couldn't make any calls or receive any either, which was a real problem when I was running a TV/VCR repair business. I'd usually have to ring the nursing staff on my mobile and ask them to hang up the phone for her so release my phone again.
