I've written stories about other animals, but I've never had the pleasure of meeting or hand rearing a Wombat. Animal rescue is a very important job. Just last Friday a young girl was holding a soft fabric pouch, containing a brush tailed possum baby. There is specific feed supplied as I learned when I hand-reared an orphan kangaroo on the station.

CG must be great to handle a baby kanga, but I bet a wombat would be better because we are so cute.

That's true. I'd love to hand rear a wombat, but it would have to behave better than a certain Nomad wombat. Cute, but mischievous.

Years ago a friend of mine in Ceduna, now living at Pt. Augusta, hand reared a fox cub. That little mongrel would only crap under 1 daughter's bed all the time, and although it was hand-fed, it used to slink away as foxes do. And no matter what she did to keep everything clean, that fox smell was everywhere. Very unusual think to observe. Possums are easier. Not sure about wombats.

trouble with wombats is if you raise them inside you cant keep them out, had them take the doors off the hinges to get back inside. Good mates though and will follow you every where and just like our resifent wombat there is no getting rid of them cheers blaze
