Would be interesting to see how many members are travelling in older vans, say pre 1990. Photos would be good as well. Also if anyone has renovated an older van.

Hi Shirley, I renovated a 1990, in fact two Viscount's but they were both "on site" so not sure if that counts? It was not cheap and I had to makeshift a lot as parts etc were either difficult to get hold off or just not available. I also found they were very heavy and both had really bad leaks and that caused major headaches.

We travel in an 1980 Viscount which has been around the block twice. We brought it from a couple who had travelled a lot. Had it now for 3 yrs and while we have done some work on it. It is great condition. Now have it with 2 solar panels, home made annex roll out which is a lot stronger than a brought one.

..Mine is a 1983 with a little rust that is a worry at this stage
Hi Mine is a 84 Viscount - looks older than Val and Robs. I've added solar panels and am getting a new poptp skirt. Other than that she's in excellent shape.
ours is 1980 , partially refurbished inside, painted inside and out, off road rebound springs fitted, dumoured to have made the big lap at least once cheers blaze

Mine is 1989 and travels well - it is a 12ft Regal which equates to about 9ft inside. Currently have a couple of renos done inside, e.g. bed raised to allow the porta potti to be stored underneath (and also create a bit more storage) - only has one single bed. Table is being altered to make it more user friendly and a previously repaired leak is getting really fixed.

Our motorhome is from 1987. We're gradually gone through everything & hopefully there's plenty of life in it yet. Engine is a 3208 caterpillar & is only just run in. That's if no one (previous owners) have turned the clock back. Cheers

We are in the process of renovating a 1974 Viscount. We hope to have it on the road for later this year.

It's great to get this response & to see some other older vans still being used. Ours is a 1988 Jayco Poptop. We did just about a complete rebuild on it last year & it is great. We will be doing our last trip in it in March up to Inskip Point in Qld as we have sold it & are now rebuilding a 1986 Viscount Regency. Will post a couple of photos of the Jayco & also the Viscount that is now a "flatpack" in the shed waiting the rebuild. Yeah I know we are gluttons for punishment doing this all over again
