I saw that on TV as well. How brazen, and now they've been filmed in action for posterity. The philosophy seems to be, "If I want it, I just take it." These lazy mongrels sit around playing computer games all day, taking drugs or drinking themselves into oblivion, and when they want something they steal it, or steal something to sell to fund it. Once again it comes back to respect. Respect for other people's property. When the law and society stop taking the soft option, there may be some accountability and punishment to fit the crime. It all starts at home.

if people didn't buy the stuff that was stolen there would be no market so the would be little piont in stealing stuff you couldn't use or sell it is a endless cycle

Not only vans - but parts off vans - we had our van parked on the front lawn - chained down to a concrete pad with a heavy duty hook embedded into it - didn't get the van, but cut the power connector wire, right off at the plug in end - would have cost a bit for an auto elec to replace, but luckily hubby was handy and did it himself, then he made a little cage out of some perforated stainless steel with hooks for a padlock - insert the plug in there - they can't get to it easily - so they give up. The irony of it was our trailer was on the other side of the driveway, had been for about 7 years, had the exact same plug on it - no-one ever touched that!
Hubby also made a lock for the tow ball bit of the van - you can buy them from most caravan stores, the padlock is inserted in a way that it can't be cut off.
He liked to make things himself. He even wired up our second battery system in the tow vehicle.

Friends of ours had their boat taken last week from under their carport - with the ball-lock on it too! I agree with everyone else - no respect or consideration for others and their property.

bit of a rush of these things last year near my place. Caravan, workmans tool trailer. must be a sellable market for them or they would not steal them. I now have a lock and a wheel brace on mine. rocket n strop

Its awkward to put the van away but mine goes in the carport and up to the shed door draw bar first and also has lock in the coupling, we hope thieves will decide its too hard to get and leave it alone, fingers crossed.

maybe if the van is being stored at home for a while, take the tyres off then it cant be towed? but still sucks...

It seems the couple have struck again an other Van has been stolen. they will have to take our fence down to get our, but then again why take our, which is an old one when they can get newer models but they are brazen for sure

I protect my van by being the first to put it in the compound at our village, when the neighbours with their van get back they always block my access.
