I have a wina freeway on a ford courier diesel, and besides from loading and getting off , its great.Would love a Northstar, but can,t afford it. The lower the tray on the car , the better. I am thinking of a styleside 2wd ute, if I can find a good one.They have low trays. Bill

Len and Barb. Your preference for a rig is similar to mine. I am purchasing a Palamino Bronco, which I believe is similar to a Northstar in that it is a pop-top and therefore has a lower centre of gravity, less wind resistance, etc. I am going to purchase a 2WD single cab Mazda BT-50 or Ford Ranger with an 8ft tray. I would have preferred a space cab/extra cab but wanted to have an 8ft tray and did not want too much weight towards the back of the vehicle. I did not want to tow a caravan, and whilst not travelling I will have the ute to use for general purposes. Best wishes with whatever you choose. Lyn

Yep Doug, all fine and dandy! Going back (armed with checklist) to have a more comprehensive look at a lovely silver Mazda BT-50 first thing in the morning. It already has an 8ft tray and ticks all the boxes except for bucket seats. Len and Barb, have you checked the payload capacity for the Nissan to ensure that it can take the camper and any extra items you will be loading onto the ute/camper. You probably have. I am choosing a Mazda BT-50 or Ford Ranger because they have the highest payload capacity for such utes. I will be interested in your search progress. Lyn

My BIL has a mitsubishi dual cab and carried his camper around for a number of years, last year he added 900mm to the chassis and it made a great unit even better. I think his tray is now about 7 foot cheers blaze

i have heard some people put a second axel on the back,would that work on an extra cab? is there much space in those or would it be better for a duel cab?

2nd axle can be a real probem on uneven surfaces milo as it tends to lift the drive wheels cheers blaze

Thanks folks for your suggestions. We will be trying to buy a King Cab as apposed to a dual cab to create more room for the Slide On. It sure can be frustrating just making the decision and getting out there. Anyway it's going to happen soon
