I would have thought they would all be the same, the v just stands for Victoria and the q stands for Queensland so my thinking is if you live in Qld you take out RACQ. But which ever one you take out covers you throughout Australia, I do know that.

In my long chat with the RACV yesterday it was told to me that my RACV membership covers me all around Australia and the other states & territories are the same.

Take out total care in ANY state of Australia and it covers you Australia wide.

Can vouch for that. I'm in RACT, have a NSW address and used there service just last week in Tamworth.

I did not know Tamworth had their own RACT

I've been a member of RACWA and RAA in SA, and the ultimate cover is national coverage. I think they keep their state identity, but they have a national policy.

milo, I take out the basic one on renewal, then when I know I'm heading off for a while I upgrade to the Total care.

I think it is still the case, NRMA covers a car RAC covers a person , if you know what I mean

NeilandRaine RAC - V - Q - WA etc cover the car or vehicle. We don't have NRMA down here in Vic. That is the NSW equivalent.

Thats what I did Milo. When I bought my little yellow Hyundai new back in 2000, I didn't bother as had a 5 year warranty. When that ran out I got RACV membership. And have carried it on with Myrtle.

I've kept up my cover, even though I have a new car. And I have total care too.
I joined many years ago after the old Carona had a flat tyre at midnight, when I was going to pick son up from a party on a lonely country road.
They were a blessing for me for all those years I had old cars. Can't tell you how many times they got me out of trouble.

can you upgrade and down grade all the time??

When the renewal comes out milo, I pay the basic and it stays that way unless I intend to go away for some time. Once I upgrade it has to stay that way till the next renewal is due. So if its a year I don't intend heading away anywhere I haven't had to pay the extra but I still have cover.
