Does anyone know a good camp site between Byron Bay and Brunswick heads for 3 days from early April around 40 Kms from the coast. The trouble is that everything in Byron Bay is booked out at this stage. On top of that we have two little dogs travelling with us and almost CP are not dog friendly

Mullumbimby Showgrounds or Mullumbimby Leagues Club both allow dogs briche. CAW 6 #12 & #13.
I haven't stayed at either, so I can't give you a report, sorry.

Hi Brian and Cheryl, I'm staying at Byron Bay 8,9,10 May at the Clarkes Beach Holiday Park. I have never been to Byron Bay so I am really looking forward to my stay. I have been told it's a hippy life style type of place so who knows I might like that life style and decide to move there and live.

the caravan park at Belongil near Byron Bay is very nice. It is well signposted and is on the left side of the main access road to Byron Bay. The rates are pretty good too. It's quiet, has lots of lawn and many trees. It makes a nice relaxing change from the hype of Byron. There are two caravan parks in Brunswick Heads. You would need to book in advance I think as they are usually crowded. The one right in town has become very expensive in recent years.

Hi Briche, Our son got married down there last year and because of the cost of the parks we stayed at Broard Water. Yep I know it's a bit away, but the small park, Broard Water Stopover Vanpark is great. Bart and co go outnematode way to make you welcome at around $19.50 to $25 per night. Clean quiet, yep they have a few permenants but they were a great mob, friendly and quiet. The servo next door does very good take sways as well. Hope this helps.

The bride & I have been visiting Byron over many years, and was only there during the Christmas break 2011 house sitting. We will head there again on our way down south within a week or so, after our house sit concludes on the Goldie.
We avoid Byron town ship like the plaque. Gone are the feral hippies and alternates, always good fun checking them out. Byron Bay town ship has been taken over by a skillion Back Packers. Plus most real agents won't talk to you, unless you have a million bucks in your back pocket.
Maybe we (me and the bride)are still living in the sixties, when Byron was a culture of spaced out hippies, and a surf culture that went with it. Ahhhh they were the days.
When we do go down in the van, we stay at Byron Bay Tourist park, which is opposite Belongil fields. We like it there as it is out of town, and more importantly to us, it is close to the southern end of Tyagarah beach, which is deserted most of the time.
We have stayed at Clarke's beach CP a few years ago now, and even though it is right on the beach, they jam you into sites like sardines in a tin.....not our cuppa tea. However in saying that we may look at Clark's again this time as most of the maddening crowd have gone.

Stayed at the Leagues Club about 18 months ago Brian. Was alright if you got over near the river. Can't remember how much it was and the amenities are what you would expect from a footy club change room. We used our own but for what you paid we figured it was worth the stay even if only for the fishing.

Haven't done the west coast yet Beth, that's coming up this year and there's lots of SA and Vic to be done and lots of places in between too. Love the lifestyle.

I have already made the booking and the lady sounded nice and very helpful, I am looking forward to the visit.

hi briche, did'nt happen to run over a chinaman in our travels did we. first week in april is the bluesfest there will be thousands of happy high campers,now this may be a good thing.i live at ocean shores and just love brunswick heads.you have been given some good advice hear all accurate mullum would be good to escape the crowds the ferry reserve at brunswick pet friendly would be my first choice.due to the festival i think you have no hope its worth a phone call their are cancellations. my 2 cents worth on byron bay.the place is beautiful but unfortunately when the sun goes down these young drunken hordes of hooligans take over the town the police are helpless.byron has become the new mecca for all the bums if you want to live on welfare you may as well come to byron.its still a nice place just dont go to certain areas late at night.i may have a solution for your stay i am awaiting advice at this very moment.we are a club with grounds and amenities at tyagarah airport.and for all you with burnt bums grays lane is next door and the nudie beach. its private and really well kept grounds.at the last meeting the concern was liability insurance.the fees were by donation.ive seen koalas and roos there.the secretaries name is peter wightman, phone no. 0266801365.
