Hi guys, I have been a stalker on here for a while now. You have all given great advice. Alot of which I have passed on to the moth (man of the house).
Well we finally found the tug to tow the van. 16' 6" Coromal poptop, towed by 2002 Hyundai Terracan auto petrol.
Looking forward to going away with the hubby and playing while he worked. Kids all left home. No babies or Weddings on the horizon.
Well we now have our 1st Grandchild on the way. A Wedding to plan and a nursing home to look for my elderly mother. AAARRRRGGGHHHH

Welcome, but be careful, he isnt always that cuddly
Hi Kaid and welcome from me too. Why do you put your plans on hold for all those other things? I travelled, and "popped" home for babies and funerals. I do it a little differently than many nomads, but no matter which way you go about it, it's your life and your trip. It's your turn. Will they really thank you for hanging around while they make their plans? I don't mean to be frivolous or heartless, but if you're an only child, I suppose the nursing home thing will have to be planned. If you're not an only child, recruit the assistance of siblings. These days the kids have their own lives, plan their own weddings, and are probably in better financial situation than you ever were. In fact they could probably help you with travel expenses. Joking. Unless you plan to carry the baby until its birth, you don't have to be there until the birth, ready to catch it. Then off you go after everyone is settled again. I'm guessing the mum has a partner. These things usualy take 2 in my lmited experience. You can do short trips away to destinations you've always wanted to go to. If you hang around for all these things, the way will never be clear for you to go on the trip of your lifetime. Procrastination never got anyone anywhere. Except Wombats.

Welcome Kaid. I live over the other side of Logan, near Loganholme.
In regards to the Nursing Home, been there done that, twice. I highly recommend St Paul de Chatres in Fedrick St, Baronia Heights. Dad was in there for a year before his passing. He was very happy there. Wonderful staff.

Hi Kaid
I have just found a nursing home for my mother she is 93 she had a fall on her birthday 26 dec she was lucky and did no damage but it made her realise that she needed high care
I found a brand new nursing home on the gold coast at Merrimac run by Superiorcare group she loves it there the staff are fantastic and she loves the attention and the food is great she has put on weight ( she was getting very thin) being new they still have vacancies.
Hope this helps

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will try to keep this brief. Fractured family means that I (youngest of 4) and live in SE QLD have the sole responsibilty to research a place for mum. Mum wants to move back to Qld so I am looking for places up here. ( Merrimac ) sounds good. I fly to Vic next week and meet with a lady from MECAS who will assess mums needs. Dad passed away a few years ago. As for the wedding our eldest daughter and her fiance are paying for the lions share of the wedding but I am to make myself available for whatever and whenever I am needed to do it. Daughter and son have had a huge fight and are no longer on speaking terms. Second daughter lives interstate so is out of the line of fire. As for our first grandchild. My sons partner does not have any family assistance so she wants my support. On reading this I have just realised we cannot be all thing so all people and if I make myself a doormat then I can be expected to get walked all over.. Gee you guys are great . I couldn't see the forest for the trees. When we finally get out on the road we look forward to many happy hours with you
