I hope you enjoy the trip. If you really want rain and storms why not go to Sydney, it's closer than Darwin.

Might go and see this bloke.POLICE officers had to pull out pepper spray and a Taser against an "erratic" Northern Territory mayor after he refused to drop a golf club he had allegedly used to assault his neighbours.

Be careful what you wish for! We went there about this time last year because The Driver wanted to see storms. We got a cyclone!! Have a great time - Darwin without all the tourists of the Dry Season is a very different place, wonderful.

I love the wet season storms. Cairns was disappointing. They have the downpours, but the thunderstorms are quite tame compared to the Kimberley, Gulf of Carpentaria and all points NW. Have a great flight and stay safe. What will you be doing in Darwin? Not nosy, just interested.

Had 3 months up there doing restoration work after cyclone Tracey.
By the time I got there they had the then Territorian Hotel up and going & we used to sit at our large picture windows on the upper floors (in the air conditioning of course) sippping (or maybe guzzling) Darwin stubbies, watching the amazing sunsets and lightning displays.
The usual invitation to come & visit was 'come over round 7 & kick on the door'. Code for 'bring an arm full of beer'.
Love the place & have revisited it in the van several times.

The Museum is fascinating. It is possible to spend much of a day there. The Cyclone Tracy exhibit is frightening. If you have wheels, a day trip out to Litchfield is possible - the waterfalls in the Wet are speccy - especially Wangi. Check out the meal deals at SkyCity - we stayed there for some of our time there last year. Some days the lunch meal deals at the buffet restaurant were excellent value.
