I don't know if we are allowed to raise this here, and yes it is not RV talk but a lot of other talk isn't either.
I could not believe that Dimwit on CH10's The Circle, yes the good Cpl was looking for brains on the bottom of the pool, hers, but he couldn't find them as she didn't have any.
Surprised at George's comment too. If anyone thinks their comments were humour then they have something seriously wrong with them.

Probably made to by the station after complaints to keep their jobs, doesn't really wash with me they should have been more thoughtful before that and not made the comments in the first place.

I have to admit without his uniform he looks like a muscle-bound, iron-pumping ego head with tats. It doesn't change who he is, just the image. It's a pity these things were said about the VC awardee, and it was somewhat insensitive. I believe the apologies are sincere, lesson learned, and they'll think before they speak again. That's the trouble with live TV. One has to think before they speak.

I have to agree with everthing written on this subject, I thought it was a disgusting attempt at gutter humour by the presenters on the circle and as far as I am concerned they all deserve a damned good flogging.
It is because of men like the good crpl and men like him who are prepared to put their lives on the line that Australia has the freedom we all enjoy so much these days.
PS:- Edited for one of those damned typos again.

The hero tag is used too freely these days, that great Aussie Cpl is a true hero in the finest tradition of the armed forces The Victoria Cross is the highest award and not easily won, usually awarded posthumously. Anyone denigrating these heroes deserve all the brick bats we can hurl at them

Personally I think the "jokes" made on this show were quite insulting and hurtful to the family of this man. I don't think the "apologies" given by Yumi or George were really sincere. Too late to take the words back once out of their mouths.

In the early 70s I spent a lot of time with SAS guysand I believe that every last one of them deserve this countrys total respect and thanks. Anyone the degrades ANY SAS soldier should go to WA and just see what these guys go through, let alone what they go through when deployed, they are the cream of Australia and these so called jernos should be kicked of live TV at least. PS wish I had the dedication to maintain a body like that guy.

Classic case of brain not being engaged before opening mouth. George Negus's show was axed and now he has to appear on anything they tell him to as he is still contracted to Ten. Negus should have known better. His big mistake was to move to Ten joining in the dumbing down programmes on commercial TV'
Shame on you George.

I would bet that they now have a much wider viewing audience because of this very event (if you can call it that).
They have achieved what they set out to do I would say. Increase their ratings

I have never watched the circle and now have absolutely no intention of ever doing so, but you are correct Ma it will probably increase their ratings as a lot of people will tune in to see just who they are.

Seems George Negus sure has 'lost the plot' and even with his 'supposed' apology, he STILL couldn't get it right!! He referred to the Cpl in the apology as a Colonel - mind you he deserves to be a Colonel - where on earth were the researchers??? Lost all respect for George Negus as a jouno.

There were three offenders, Negus, Stymes and the woman panelist (Gorgi Coghlan?) who was out of shot and asked, "Are you saying he is a dud root?". This is a daytime show (9am).
They are keen to keep the public in the dark about the identity of the third offender.

Here is a link to Cpl Roberts - Smith, VC. He had already won a Gallantry Award before he got his VC for another action, what a man. Read the story for both and if you scroll down the page you will see his ribbons and an explantion of what they are for, click on;
I hope he remains safe for the rest of his Service, he has done more than his share, but being the man he is I can't see him not wanting to go back to a war zone.

Thanks for that link guys. Makes you feel very insignificant in the big picture. A man the deserves the greatest respect from every man women and child in this country of ours. I bet the Gov. dont even bother to teach the kids in school about him. the dogooders of this world probably wont let them anyway. Cant glorify war or the people that defend our way of life.
The apologies left a bit to be desired,
http://www.thepunch.com.au/articles/when-you-apologise-you-should-just-say-im-sorry/?from=scroller&pos=1&referrer=home&link=text
They should apologise to him in person on air.
