Waranty or not Graeme, I'd be taking it back to the yard and making them fix it. They sold it to you as a good, working, road worthy vehicle.....I am sure you did not get a big discount because you were buying a faulty van.
I would think they'd have a duty of care to say the least.....especially where the 'tingles' are concerned.
Push the roadworthy issue as well. Make a lot of noise if they are not compliant.

Yes, duty of care. Roadworthy, electrical compliance. Neglect by workshop on brake issue. Go back to the dealer and push REALLLY hard for no cost retification. If they wont come to the party, hitch the van up and tow it back to the yard, block the entry and then call the local paper. They love these stories. Write up the facts of the matters in dispute, photo copy a couple of dozen copies, paste some on the van , and hand out the rest to any prospective buyers in the yard. It will work!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS.....make sure that there is an RCD fitted to the van

hi guys hows it going out there in grey land lol.
well we got the new home and were stoked so is our border trailer trash as he went from a 13 ft er to a 21 fter he didnt want to but we forced him to as he is my best m8 he didnt want to be the first to sleep in it but being second hand we said its ok .
couple of isues not so much with the van but with theyard .
now a second hand van dosnt have warrenty .thats ok i think
first isue after having a roadworthy and even after telling the workshop guy about the wire from the chasie to the brakes was broken it wasnt fixed . so how good did the roadworthy guy look . i will pull all the drums of and check the brakes my self .
second is the compliance plate weights are different to the rego papers. and they said we mite have to take it to the transport dep . well the jokes on them it was sold to us as this weight and its got that weight well its up to them to rectify
now this one alludes me its got tingles from the van when hooked up to 240 v just like a washing machine does sometimes . i just thought it mite be the earth to the house so i will get that checked to . or is there something that could be a common thing in the van.
apart from those couple of things were extatic it tows perfect and looks a million dollars (well to us any ways ) over time we will do our thing to it and use it as much as we can before the permanent life change happens .
PS dellas doing ok were going for a meeting with radiolagy docs monday will get her to updat that report mon nite.

Tingles? Not good Graham, be careful! Mr D suggested keep the 240volts off till this is solved.

Two 6v batteries in series will give you 12v. Two 12v batteries in parallel will still give you only 12v but will give you the total amphour capacity of each battery, ie two 100ah bateries will give you a total of 200ah

Lets not hijack this thread into a debate about series versus parallel, I'm just explaining the difference between the two.

Someone else on here was having trouble with tingles when connected to 240. It turned out to be the electrical cord she was using. Was faulty, she bought a new one and had no more problems. I'm not sure who it was but may have been in the Techies Corner.

Graeme before you go to the dealer re the tingle why not try and hook up the power from a friends house and if the tingle persists then it is the van at fault, if it does not persist then get your house earth checked out.
Did your previous van get the tingles when hooked up to the power at your place, if not then the new van definitely sounds suss.

how do you hook a caravan to normal house power, i thought they were different plugs in the walls? i know dad had to get a different plug in the wall to match the 15 amp lead to the van or am i wrong in that
other wise we would have used a little piggy back lead some one gave us..

Phone ACCC on this number 1300 302 502 they only advise what you should be doing.
I think you should take it back to the dealer and tell them you want it fixed NOW, if not tell them you will have to contact the ACCC, they usually do the right thing if they think you know your statutory rights.

i dont remember getting a tingle from the mobile home but i didnt crawl over it like i have with the van as its new to me i was just looking at things when i felt it. we tried a different lead and i even tryed the stainless tub in the laundry but nothing.just went up and tested leads they come up to scratch so im guna put it in the hands of the cvan yard and if they dont want to play the game i mite have to ring consumer affairs (my dad tought me that).
also put multie meter on the batteries and found them only to be 6 volt 200 amp deep cycle bloody great heavy things .

ACCC will tell you to, go to the dealer in the first instance, IF they will not play they will then advise you to put your concerns in writing to the dealer and allow about 14 days for a reply, I suggest you register the letter.
Let's all hope you do not have to do the above and the dealer see's that you know what you are talking about and does the repairs free of charge.

No matter what or where you park your van it should not "tingle". There's electricity on the loose there somewhere. It needs to be examined by the agent you bought it from. There is a short warranty on these things, and it's your money, you are entitled to get what you paid for in good order and safe condition. While a caravan is simply an aluminium box with staples and pop rivets, you will be depending on it for safe towing and shelter when parked. Please investigate the problems thoroughly with the agent so you can be reassured your investment is safe and roadworthy.

thanks from all above and i have noted and saved wombats links . and its now disconnected from mains . i will ring dealer tomorrow and let them know my problem. i will be just annoyed if they say i have to bring it back 150 ks and then pick it up . if they dont want to play the game i will then go through the legal lines with all my problems

ok a little up date its raining here on the sunshine coast (whats new) went up to have a beer with trailer trash and drown our sorrows from the ford defeat and got to thinking about the leads . so we got a different lead and power supply from a different outlet and low and be hold no tingles so we tried the other lead again and no tingles .our conclusion because the legs and jockey wheel are down it must be earthing through them because every things wet . i didnt try an earth lead from the van to the ground before so i cant be sure ( im not an electrician so i dont know what the multi meter was telling me and now i cant remember what it was doing) but to me it makes sense but im not a sparky so i will ring one tomorrow and get some advice from him before i ring the dealer .

Getting back to the original problem, get an electrician to check that the extension cord you're using is correctly wired. Do this before doing anything else.
