Well,it's almost time. This time next week we should be on the road. Finally, after 10 months we will be starting our adventure. Decided not to plan a whole lot, just have to be in Mildura on the 15th for the vans first service and get a couple of leaks fixed (fortunatly just a couple of bad seals(jayco)). Then Broken Hill, then point to the east coast then northish and just go. Hopefully the weather will settle some b4 then. Just a quick question, will b our first free overnite stop (Charlton). When parked do you fit and wind down the jockey wheel to take some weight of the car, and do u release the WDH? Thanks in advance for any replys.

Well done Steve and Maria, I hope all goes well for you both out there in the wide blue yonder, at least I hope it's blue skies for you both anyway.
I have had to cancel my 2 month trip to Townsville and back due to a couple of work issues. As it turns out, since that decision was made most places I was heading too are now or will be flooded so I'm rather glad things have changed now.

To answer your question, if staying hitched overnight it epends how level its all sitting. We have put the jockey wheel on a couple of times, others not.
Have a wonderful time Steve and Maria, and travel safe!

When you pull into an overnight stop you will see all combinations re the WDH, Jockey Wheel, and Stabiliser Legs.
Possibly the most common we have noticed is just the rear stabiliser legs being down as some people find motion of the van as they move around a little disturbing.
For and overnight stop, if the site is relatively level, we just leave the rig as is.

I always put the jockey wheel on and wind the stabalisers down as it prevents that up and down motion when walking in the van, it also takes some of the weight off the car. I also loosen the chains on the WDH to take a bit of strain off for the night.
