Our water heater stopped working a few days ago. Was fine on gas, so thought must be electrical fault. A serviceman came this afternoon, and went straight to the small cupboard in the van by where the heater is. Hey presto the heater is plugged into a socket in the cupboard and the plug had been bumped out a bit. He said it happens often. I felt an idiot. If my mate back home gets to hear about it, it's brobably a few beers.
Thought I would post this so other newbies might be forewarned .

How embarrassment!
You wouldn't be the first nomad to do something silly Brandt, and you won't be the last.

It's a good tip, but it's also kinda funny how these things happen to make us feel so silly. I couldn't light my gas hot water service. I called someone out and found I'd been trying to light the wrong part of the heater. Then I couldn't get the fridge to work on gas. No jet at all there, so I didn't feel quite so sill. Life's like that.

CG, I think our learning curve is starting to level out. I Feel has been going straight up like the Space Shuttle.

It gets smoother and straighter with experience. We all had to start somewhere. Not everyone is born with these skills, although I think some women believe men are, and some men believe they are. Just have fun, and you'll look back at all these experiences one day and laugh at the irony of all of it. Even now you're much more experienced than you were when you lobbed on the mainland across the ditch. Haeremai.

Hey Kiwi, dont feel to bad mate, I know of another one that didnt work when needed in a new van, the sparkies fitted the power switch upside down, so off was on & on was off. so when it didn't work they turned it off, as you would but that was on.
There out there.
PS; have spoken to the little girl a couple of times, she sounds good.
