Gee congratulations to the unit. You mean you worked very hard to raise the money to buy the new unit. Or did the state come forward with some funding? No matter what, it's always very exciting to accept and christen a new fire truck. I believe there are some new stringent rules about the set up since the Eyre Peninsula bushfires. What sort of equipment do you have to carry these days?

CG...its a State funded one.......alot has changed with these new one.....first ofcourse is the duel cab.......it even has masks for breathing in an event of a burn over.inside the cab......and drop down covers to protect the crews and sprinklers on top to water everything.....I agree lot of improvements since that fire inquest......
Equipment is just an updated version of what we always had........we have added.......floating fire pump and rescue streatcher
Its a big truck....towered over our old one.......good for another 20 years I hope

And it's probably 4 x 4, with lots of other emergency and rescue equipment, which is determined by the region you serve. Do you all have to retrain on how to fly the new machine?

and don't forget that it has to stop and have a little rest every 300km, giving the crew plenty of time for a regular pit stop.
