We have arived at Hartwood this morning ready for the Easter Festival, along with thousands of other vanners, motor homers etc. Let the fun begin.
Whilst waiting to enter Hartwood property this morning, many have been camped at verious sites around the area for the last few days, us included.
Premer, a small village of 50 people just a few kls to the east of here in the farmland area, No 383 in the book. This village has a school, one small shop & a pub. There is a camp area located in front of the school & beside the sports oval, some power sites , toilets & showers . This area is run by the local Lions club which has a shed called the sports club containing a bar & kitchen.
On saturday & sunday night they opened up the bar etc,& catered dinner for the campers , Friday was mixed curry & chicked & rice, speg bolanase etc .200+ on sunday night for roast pork &/or beef with vegs, folled by apple slice with ice cream & cream, tea & coffee for $17 per head. Live entertainment as well.
What an effort by a small community, to put on a weekend like this as they use it for a fund raiser to employ a second teacher for the school.
The rest area is available at all time for the travellers @ $7 unpowered & $12 powered per rig. There were about 250+ vans there waiting. Well worth marking in your book if passing that way for a stop over.
A big yah of the day to them.
Cheers;
JC.

You can't beat country hospitality and catering. They know how to make do with everyone pitching in to do something. Cooking, baking, coffee and tea, stalls for other foods, making space for the visitors. I'll bet the festival is an absolute hoot. Everyone is in this little village for the same reason. No distractions. No other events at other venues. All the fun is in one place for a few days. I hope you have a jolly fine time. Keep us informed.

Sound like my kind of people, really really have missed that sort of natural easy going hospitality, everyone pitching in, no egos just getting on with it.

Sorry Jimbo, ment to put that is as well , its called Premer, S/W from Tamworth NSW. If you look at the road from tamworth , Werris Creek towards Coonabarraban. Premer is on this road, then go Coolah toTambah springs , Hartwood is on this rd, its a property not a town & is owned by country singer Paul Mccloud. This property is about 17kl from Premer so thats why is was a great waiting point untill the property gates opened early monday morning.
