My DH and I just had a brief stay in Tidal River and was appalled at the costs. We took an unpowered site at $24 per night as the powered site was $55 per night. We have stayed in some very nice CP's for a lot less than that and got a lot more. The amenities were very basic. The food at their cafe were, really, laughable... $20 for a cooked chook, $5.80 for a small slice of cake, around $10 for a hamburger... etc.... We will not go there again. And, what's more - Squeaky Beach did not squeak... Very disappointed about that as we have been there before years ago and it did actually squeak... Maybe we didn't pay for the squeak Jay-Jay

we were there last year @ $50 a night with power, I did not go to the office when Mrs W paid or we would have turned around and driven out again, bloody rip off, will not go there again, will stay in a van park outside and do the trip in every day, because it is a good park for walkers.
And best of all there are a lot of my cousin's that live there

Yes I agree with all the above. I booked to go there and actually have a credit still. As it turned out I ended up going and staying in a house a short drive away with 5 others and we paid the total sum of $120 pn all up. Basic but large, clean and had great views. I can't bring myself to go to the trouble to drive down there now with the van on and use my credit. The walks were nice but yes the food was an embarrassment and hugely expensive. The camping sites seemed cramped and certainly nothing special. Don't think I want to go back. Tess

Yep !! been there done that, but about 10 years ago when it was a lot more reasonable, just by reading what they are charging now, they can ''stick-it;; It's not worth that much, !!
Is it still run by the Dep't of ''whatever they call themselves now'' or did they take it off them, when they nearly burned the lot down a few years ago when another ''backburn'' went wrong ?? As those prices seem more like a private enterprise ripp-off, rather than a goverment run place
I think that anyone that has been there and is not happy, should sent an Email to the relevant authority, as it needs to be bought to their attention they won't do anything ??? but they should be told anyway, Maybe an Email to the local member of Parliment ?? It's just not fair, this used to be Our Country,
Rant Over !!!! [ Hard day at work ] But Now Nug Nug here i come !!!

Nope. All luxuries have been removed post haste wombat. It's a naughty corner for naughty boys and girls and wombats, you go there because you are naughty.
