Hi Pauline & significant other, Good luck to you both, after 3 1/2 yrs in our van we met one guy that wanted to go home. He had lost the awning off the side of his new Stirling 23ft. (because he did not lock it). He had come to Cairns from Perth in something like 6 days, not sure exactly. The thing was, he should have taken 6 months. When we were traveling my wife asked me if this "was all we are going to do". I was racing to someplace, staying overnight then racing somewhere else and not smelling the roses. We did not see much, I was on edge etc. I realized she was right, so we started staying a week at wherever, then a fortnight etc. I learned to SLOWwwwww down and enjoy. It made a he'll of a difference, smart lady mine, we had an absolute ball during our time on the road, we would still be out there if it was not for my neck giving up, enjoy your time together, meet others, don't be afraid to say g'day and dont be afraid to be the first in a free camp you get the best site that way. In all our travels we had one night on our own, there was always someone that was waiting to find company for the night. Take care, drive safe and have fun

is the day our furniture goes........am sitting here at this unGodly hour, have already been up nearly 2 hours, surveying the wreck of what we used to call home, the furniture goes at 8.00 and then the bond cleaners come in, I have done a lot of cleaning but they will be doing the final touches on things like windows, screens, and out of the way places that I can't reach. How come husbands are conveniently working when all this moving crap happens, so the carpets are done Wednesday morning and then I hand back keys at final inspection and hit the road to Beachmere and the van, hubby will be back there on Friday, I will stay at my best friends place tonight and probably get pickled me thinks..........sitting here hoping and praying we have done the right thing as it was all my idea in the first place, as the saying goes...........be careful what you ask for, you just might get it, I think now is definately the time for some well chosen encouraging words from all you GN out there.

Have been there and felt exactly the same way. Never fear it gets better. Every day is a new adventure, it is such a big beautiful world. My friends and family say they see more of me now than they used to and enjoy my visits because ere is always another new story to tell. I pop up out of nowhere either in person or on Skype or phone. I think some of them are living the dream through me which is fine because some people just can't do it themselves but are happy for you . I am sending good vibes and enjoy the pickling solution when you get to it, I did...... Tess

Hi Pauline, yes you will hit snags and think of that question BUT and a big but is "Why didn't we do this sooner"
I took the plunge 18 months ago and base my self in the Wide Bay where I used to live.Come back here to see family and friends but the open road calls every day and I wouldn't change that again.
Every time you wake up in your place the view is different and you have met new friends.
New views out of the windows and new experiences.Your family will tell you they are envious and wish they were doing the same thing...
Just think,You are doing it for real.
ENJOY.
