I will have to get one of those wireless broadband antennas Doug. I can never get good reception at greens Lake, would come in handy next summer. What is it called and where do you get them?

Morn'n Marj, all though by the time you might read this I should say nite Marj.
I am not sure of name as I have got rid of packaging but I got it from Leading Edge Puters.
I attached a small bit of gal iron plate to the top of the camper as the base of the antenna is magnetic and all the outside of camper is Aluminium. Problem solved.
Just make sure your dongle can have the external antenna fitted Marj.
How's it all going up there in banana land?
I will be in Townsville next Sunday, yipeeeee.

A little bit of rain at the moment Doug. Just checked my dongle. It is a BigPond Turbo Next G. There is a little blue bit on the side that has a picture of an aerial on it. I was able to open that and found a little plug hole inside so presume it is for the external aerial that you are talking about. Will take it into a leading edge place and check it out sometime.

We have an antenna which Mr D got from a radio-communications place in Canberra. It goes onto the dongle where you said Marj. He made an extension for it that can be attached to the spare wheel on the back of the caravan. Have seen one hanging in a tree! They need to be vertical so if you can find a way to attatch a wire coat-hanger to the top end of it, that works ok.

Marj, go to ebay, and put in onestopcar radio. They have compatable aerials for $7 plus postage.I have a spare if you really need one. I have a next G turl dongle like your and I get better reception in fringe areas such as Greens lake, with an aerial.Bill

So is the WiFi dongle better than the plug in stick thingy? (Excuse the technical term)
I'll be changing over soon.

Can't find it on their website Bill. Is it an older model? They seem to change and/or update often.
Also, I have a prepaid mobile, and thought I'd do the same with internet, but someone said it's not as economical as with the phone. Anyone heard this?

Hi Beth,go to www.bigpond.com and on the top left of screen click on Internet and then click on mobile broadband and you will see all the mobile devices. Telstra handles business customers and bigpond the private consumers.

Thanks Bill and Bill.
It's okay Bill12, I've got it. And yes, I know what you mean about 5 different answers..Centrelink is the same.
I think I'll go with the same as yours Bill12. 4GB will suit me, I reckon.

I used to run out on a 2gig plan, but have never been close to running out on a 4gig plan. If you have your home phone and mobile with telecoma, then press them for the discounts you get with one bill. They will only give them if you ask. Bill

Yeh, I don't think 2GB would be enough for me.
I currently have Optus cable internet and landline deal, but it runs out next month, so looking at doing away with the landline, and switching the internet to Telstra for rural coverage.
The mobile is already on Telstra rural, but is prepaid, so don't think they'll do a deal, but I'll ask.
