Our previous tow vehicle was a 03 Fairmont with a 18'6 tandem pop top on its bum. From memory got around 22, 23 litres per 100 kilometres. From a fading memory only.

Hello again Fred,
Six months 12000kms, our average, mostly towing a rig the same dimensions as you have quoted, Gold eagle Pop Top but with too much unused clobber, came out overall at 19.6 ltrs per 100 kms.

18 - 21Lts/100Km would be a fair average depending on speed, wind. terrain etc. The faster you travel the heavier the consumption. A 10Km/hour head wind is like increasing the speed by around 10KPH depending on the vehicle and van airflow profile. If you wish to keep consumption down, the speed should be decreased as head winds increase. OJ
