G'Day Geoff;
Old mate put one on a 500 Cummins , boosted it to 565hp .
I don't know how they go on a smaller motor . What he did though .
Basic 14litre Cummins motor rated at 500hp .
Old mate put a brand new computer in & de-rated th fuel by 10% ,
then , put the chip in , I doubted it would make a difference , you could tell ,
it felt underpowered de-rated , but it did feel like 550+ with the chip ,
fuel results showed it was better . May make a difference when towing .

hello Geoff & Kay I have a DP chip in my 2006 prado and it has made a big difference to power and Torque but fuel savings vary depending on wind and conditions Ken

Big differance, I had the disco chipped and its like a tail wind. Dont know about DP chip seems a little costly. had the disco done for $500. And the fuel didnt change for the worst, as good if not better...

I have often pondered the questions; (a) Why doesn't the manufacturer of the vehicle, program the vehicle management computer to do what the chip does and; (b) is it possible that these chips will shorten the life of the motor?

That is a question i have also pondered. Aparently some chips can be removed and leave no trace.
