We arrived in Melbourne yesterday for 3 weeks housesitting in Berwick. Why? I am beginning to doubt our sanity; Melbourne in May! Most sane Melbournians are on their way to Queensland. Now I know why.

You should have said no to the house sitting job and gone somewhere warmer. Just put a jumper on (or sweater or whatever you call it) and turn on the heating - it is only three weeks not three months.
I am from Melbourne and personally wouldn't come here from warmer areas between May and September.

I recently made a return trip to Victoria from Queensland. It was my first time back to the home town (Warrnambool) for nearly 40 years. It was February and at times we nearly froze. We spent a few days with my sister at Mortlake (aka pleurisy plains).... South East Queensland for most of the year and Mackay area for the mid winter thank you...

We arrived back in Melbourne a week ago and have had to buy a few warm jumpers as we have NO winter clothing! Picking up our new van in 2 weeks and so will just have to endure the cold and rain, luckily the heating in our caravan is working well. We just cannot wait until we are able to head north for the next 6 months.

Ok then, if I found Townsville too humid last week and Wonthaggi, Vic. Is too wet and cold this week, maybe I should grow my beard longer, get a caftan (Spelling), become a hippie and move to Byron Bay perhaps. That's a compliment any Byron Bayites Reading this.
Seriously though, maybe central NSW Coast is the place to live.

Tezza. Hope you have good heating in your housesit. I presume the owners have gone somewhere warmer for the time. Just think they will be back for mid Winter and you will be able to head for warmer climates.
We are stuck here until our new van is built in June. Dog sitting first week in July so can't leave until after that.
HOW DEPRESSING !!!!!. I'm even starting to feel sorry for myself.
But it will be nice heading off in the new van.

What a time to book a sit in Melbourne, Tezza!
Then again, we're currently stuck in Bendigo - John had a mini-stroke two weeks ago and is in Bendigo Hospital rehab unit for another two weeks yet. One degree in Bendigo this morning...
