If any members are thinking of buying an Inmarsat Satellite phone based on the very long credit expiry date of 2 years and low call rates previously mentioned on this forum (as I did), please be aware of a change in their rate structure as shown in this link sent to me by text today. http://www.mgltelecoms.com/new-inmarsat-airtime-rates

We have bought ours through TC Communications, the ones that sponsored the Photo Comp. a yr. or so ago. That is what I have been trying to get through to people.
There are several operators out there, all selling the Isatphone , but with their own plans. Case of Buyer Beware!!

Thank you Landy for the heads up on this. i had my subsidy approved and was waiting until just before our trip before picking it up. my dealer here had advised us that prices were going up but did not know when. we printed this out and took it to them. they were suprised that they had not received notification and confirmed the date of increased prices. we collected our IsatPhone (which uses the inmarsat system) and 100 units prepaid (approx 100 mins talk time) and it has 2 years expiry time. I would like to hear from anyone who has used the system about its performance.we start out lap on 16/7 after a near 2 year delay after a nasty disagreement with a ladder. Thanks again and hope to meet up somewhere/sometime. Jack&Cherie
