Hello every one, Yes I am guilty of stalking this forum and i guess I should introduce myself.
My name is Rick and my wife Sandra and I live in Brisbane south side, I am 50 and Sandra is well 50ish, we are at present doing our research on what, when and how we will be traveling this great country of ours, not only are we newbies to this forum but newbies to caravanning as well.
I have been stalking your forum since early Feb this year and have already learnt so much from all of your post's, I thank you all that post here and share their information.
We are off to the Brisbane Caravan and Camping show this year and look forward to learning more about being on the road.
and yes it was a post from neilnruth that encouraged me to introduce myself
Cheers
Rick

Hi and welcome. I too have been stalking, but really just looking and learning. Also a Brisbane Sth ite (actually Bris sth east) soon to be on the road when we get our new van mid July. Heading north for what's left of winter.
Now have to sell our current van. Took us many years of research at caravan & camping shows to decide what to get, in mean time had couple of small to med vans to test waters ....should say roads.
Happy looking, see you somewhere sometime.

Thank you all for the welcome.
As yet we don't have a van and are still doing our research, we are leaning towards a Landcruiser as a tug and a van, I have certain instructions for the van like a shower and toilet, big bed that has a door to shut it's self off from the rest of the van. I sleep really really well while Sandra likes to sit up at night and read, I like to get up early while she who must be obeyed dosn't, sounds like the perfect marriage hey.
We would also like to be self sufficient, to have the choice to stop when and where we like, so solar panels and batteries are the go there.
There is so much to get straight in my mind and already have a great number of ideas from this site.
We are thinking by early next year (Feb) to be able to take some shorter trips and building up to the big trip.
Again thank you for the welcome.

Hi Rick & welcome.
Actually your sleeping situation is exactly the same as ours.
I learnt to sleep while SWMBO is watching TV or reading, by using those eye masks that they supply on overnight aircraft flights.
In the mornings, I go out for a kayak paddle & a short bike ride. When I return its time to make breakfast in bed for 'She & me'.
Works well for us, and has done so for 13yrs of vanning.
The Cruiser is a good choice. We have a 4.2L Patrol & a Jayco 21'6" van that has the ensuite across the back, an East West queen bed and sliding partitions to close off the ensuite & the bedroom from the kitchen / eating area.
Sounds like your plan is a good one.
Happy traveling .. G
