Can anyone recommend a campsite around Mission or Sth Mission for 4-5 days? We like to be close to water for our kayak. Can use solar, handy to have water.

Well, Beaches throughout San Diego experience strong rip currents on a regular basis. They can be dangerous even for advanced swimmers. The best advice is to avoid areas that have rip currents and to swim near a lifeguard.
Welcome to the forum Sunbaker,
Click on http://thegreynomads.activeboard.com/t45287955/mission-beach-hideaway-holiday-village-nth-qld/ to check out an earlier entry on MB. This is not a cheap park but there is a cheaper council park across the street and right on the beach that is run by the Cassowary Regional Council so their website may give more details.
Mission Beach is my favourite FNQ place.
cheers,
Jim
