Hi all, I know there are hundreds of free camps out there and not all are covered by the Camps 6 etc books. This is a big ask, could when we post our camp site, please attach, if possible a grid reference.  I would love to be able to add them to my map so I don't miss them when travelling, I have an electronic map on the laptop that allows me to update it, so if I can store campsite references  this would be fantastic. For those interested it's MapSource by Garmin.

Hi Michelle, not sure as it came bundled with a cd I brought from Garmin (City Navigator Europe V9). It could be available with other map programs from Garmin, it might be worth a look at there web site,

I've used garmin for years through work and at home and find it easy to handle like anything the more you use it, the better you get. I have a hand held unit Map76 which I use to track our trips then download it to our laptop map, it shows exactly where you have been, distance, time travelled etc and the mapsource program allows you to switch to Google map as well giving you a view of the surrounding features. There are probably a dozen other programs out there that do the same, I'm just familiar with Garmin.

Thanks so much Sue and Steve I will look into that for sure.  I have an ipad and it has a Maps program on it with a tracking facility and also we have our TomTom so maybe I don't need another system lol but it is good to know there are other choices out there.

I read somewhere about a mag called "On The Road"...I subscribed and got a mag called Free Campsites 2012......worth $20 came with first mag I got this week........covers a lot of places in each State

 For $20 one can also buy the POI file for most popular GPSs from the Camps website.  I think the opening poster was referring to those camps that don't appear in the camps "bible".

Hi all, yes I did mean to say that it's the camp sites that arn't in either the Camps bible or on the Oz Camp web site. Just by what I'm reading on the forum there seems to be hundreds of other FREE camp sites that these two sites miss, like I said it's a big ask but even if we start with just a few co-ordinates for sites it will be helpful. It seems the only way we find out is if we read it on this forum, but if a few people start putting it on an electronic map it will be easier for the rest of us to find that perfect FREE camp.
