We arrived in Cooktown yesterday and will be staying for 3-4 days prior to heading to Mareeba and Atherton for a week or so have travelled from Mossman up the Bloomfield track to about half way and will be heading down the track from Cooktown end tomorrow to see some more fantastic scenary
people who have read some of my previous posts will know how pasionate I am about fuel prices well I think I have now seen it all here in Cooktown LPG is $1.35.9 per litre and I know that transport is an issue but at Port Douglas it cost me 82 cpl which means an extra 55 cents per litre for transport or maybe a bit of a rort during peak tourist season
Wow!!! How much are they charging for diesel? Or do you have to pledge your firstborn?

Phew !! that is a rippoff, ?? are you Duel/Fuel ??? better to use petrol ?? I filled up in Geelong with Lpg today 55.9 p/ltr
You know they may be ripping you off up there, but look at the overall savings you make throughout the year, How many tanks would you use whilst in the outback, ??? next big town you hit it will be a lot cheaper ??
even .82 cents is a bit over the top, but still Viable, However Stuff the money, enjoy the trip.

Duel fuel...at that price you must have felt like challenging the fuel "wallah" to a duel!
stick to dual fuel mate! much safer than getting into a duel!

Cooktowm, one of our favourite spots. Great feed at the RSL club or the bowling club. Take a trip out to Endeavour Falls. Great caravan park there and you can hand feed a barramundi in the kiosk.

Just refuelled at the mobil servo which is just north of town the unleaded petrol price is $1.55.9 and the diesel price is $1.54.9 I guess this is one of those rare occasions where diesel is more cost effective than LPG.
Thoroughly enjoying the trip to the tropical north and have just completed our drive along the Bloomfield track we drove half way from each end, worth the time and fuel.

That;s the attitude mate, just enjoy ?? pay them what they want up there for the Lpg, your not there forever,
when you get back, add up your total litres to total klm's and you will be way in front ' overall' Dazren.
