Why do European van annexes always have so much vinyl? It looks nice but is it hot Landfall?

Those European annexes are quite hot according to one couple I met in Cairns. It's all closed in with those lovely windows to give a room with a view, but there is not way of opening with screens. Interesting but not practical in Australian conditions.

Oh, I just love it when people tell me 'IT'S NOT built Australian conditions." especially if they have not owned or have any experience with it.
The caravan is fully insulated with double glazing, and when I say FULLY insulated, I mean properly done.
We are able to zip open all sides of the annex, zip out panels, have a door on each and every corner. If we want we can zip out each end and the front leaving the main structure like a gazebo.
There is even small panels that can be zipped up and left open as breathers if the weather is horrible. Ours does have windows that open with screens.
The main sides are NOT vinyl but several layers of waterproof and breatable fabric. I think the roof is vinyl though, even that has a pattern on the iside and plain on the top.
Yes, if it is sunny and closed up it does get hot.
