Hi Guys, I have just been reading about Windows 8, looks like it maybe not a good idea to upgrade, most of the tech site's I visit are saying it's nothing like the old Win operating systems.
Upgrade's will be only $39.99 for a certain time period but beware, I suggest you have a look at the new OS before you upgrade, (in a shop) I think it may be time to have another look at Linux.
From what I am reading I for one will not upgrade, tech guys are now saying if you are happy with Vista or Win 7 then buy a new computer now before the new OS is istalled on all new machine's

DON,T DO IT!I tried it and had to format the hard drive, and lost a lot of valuable files. Its completely diffent from win7, and harder to use.try it on someone elses computer, and decide yourself, but I won,t be using it. Bill

thanks Bill, that confirms my thoughts and what I have been reading about Win 8
your experience only enforces my computer use, make an external back up of your computer EVERY WEEK, it can be a pain but well worth it in the long run.
Wombat I've also read reports on forums that say "Update at your Peril".
I use and love Ubuntu but there are many flavours of Linux. It was a learning curb for a baby boomer but you wouldn't go back to using MS. It is getting better and better and more user friendly.

The Apple Mac operating system upgrade about to come out in a couple of weeks will cost $19.99 for anyone who has upgraded in the last 2 to 3 years so I'm a happy chappy.
I thought windoze 8 was for PC's, not pineapples....
Edit.. I can't spell pineapple

Another option is mozzie which provides a free back up service that I have set on my computer to back up daily at 2.00am, I have been using it for past 3-4 years and never had any problems.

Sorry. I just can't help putting in a plug for Apple Macs sometimes. Hylda says anyone who starts using a Mac computer becomes a Mac snob... I guess there is some truth in that..
