Hi Ken, Wish we were there again, only 16 today and down to 3 tonight, bugger. We were at Calliope top level around Oct last year. Beautiful spot. Seems like years ago. All we do now as we go into Renmark to shop, is wave to all the vans on the road wishing we were doing it again, never mind all is OK in Barmera and we have settled in now. Safe travels and enjoy that lovely spot. Dreamcadter

Hello all
Left St Lawrence this morning after a couple of days and it is starting to dry, as they also had heaps of rain. Must have been about 30 vans there.
Could not get a c/p at Rocky or Yeppoon so went onto Calliope on the top level.
Has been rain here also but is drying out,and on the lower lecel it is still wet and muddy in places but still plenty of vans

Barmera is a nice spot, but these nights have been very cold, and the days are not much better. I actually turned the heater off for a few hours today and let the sunshine in, and did a bit of weeding in my little garden. Nice to feel the sun on the skin. Now it's time to shut the house and warm it up again. I camped at a park south of Yepoon in 08. It was full of the annuals who "made room for me". How very thoughtful and kind of them. Bearing in mind I had to shift once to make room for someone who knew someone who goes there every year. At happy hour my travelling friend and I were invited to join them at the bbq area. As I sat next to my friend I was directed to sit with the girls at the other table. I told them I didn't play that game and stayed where I was. What a lot of crap! It happens everywhere. They live in the same or neighbouring suburb, travel together in convoy for 3000 kms, to park next to each other for 3 months, and then go home in convoy again. Looke out interlopers! To me it defeats the purpose of travelling rather than seasonal migrating.

What do you mean by the top side and the bottom side Ken. Lorraine is there at the moment, said she is on the south side of the river. Says its a lovely spot to stay.

The top side Marje is the side nearest the highway - all grassed areas, the low side is down across the river, bit disty and rough - but those that camp there seem to love it, more like bush camping.

Thanks for that Jules, Different people must see it different ways. Lorraine couldn't work out a top and bottom side, but said they are parked on both sides of the river and she is on what she would call the south side.

I think it depends on what side you of calliope you are coming from, if from Cairns it is the top ,if from Gladstone it is the bottom or south side of the river Ken
