Back in Mareba from our five week trip up to The Tip. Visited and stayed at several beaches on way up. Done most of Old Telegraph Track. My friend with me was not so lucky, he hit a tree returning from Vrilya Point, his Patrol has been shipped back to Brisbsne, and they flew back.
Took half a day of scrubbing to get the red dust off the Cruiser. Now I am starting on the inside.
From here we start on the Savannah Way towards Darwin, probably next week.Need to get one or two things looked at on the Cruiser first.
Looking forward to catching my first Barra.

there are no beaches on the way to our local tip, only go there to dump rubbish.
Good to hear you have enjoyed yourself, sorry to hear about your mate, hope he did not have too much damage.

You should have kept the red dirt on the outside, as a badge of honour! "I've been to the tip!'
I hear Lorraines been cooking up a storm now she's back to her van stove.
Happy travels to you both.

I drove home from the Pilbara with all the red dirt attached. It took me the best part of the day to wash it off of everywhere. The iron ore dust can cause more rust than salt.

I used a "tent type" camper trailer before I bought the Goldstream and I have no choice but to treat the red dust as a badge of honour! It's a galvanised trailer and has defied all attempts to clean it. The red dust is also permanently engrained in the canvas.

Jimricho - had a camper trailer for over ten years - when I advertised it for sale put "experienced" in the ad, and sold it for almost as much as we had paid ten years earlier. People loved it, thought no one would know they were newbies.
