just got this info today, if you are in the area see if you can help out
Lake Batyo Catyo is a magnificent natural wetland in the North Grampians Shire of Victoria.
The council campground here has operated for years, providing low cost camping for nomads and families. It is now under threat of closure. The usual suspects are lobbying to have it shut down and the volunteer caretaker, Brett Wilson, is fighting to keep it open.
Brett needs to fill the 24 powered sites to put pressure on the council to keep it open. From now until September 23rd 2012, he is offering free powered sites at the lake. Stay for a day or stay for a week.
Can you help?
Enjoy the natural wonders including the wildlife and the birds of this wetland. The lake is currently only about 10% full which provides new opportunities to explore areas which are normally under water.
The town of Donald is close by and is an RV friendly town. Come and camp free at Lake Batyo Catyo and support some of the small businesses in the town.

Good on ya wombat. I must have gone right past the place on my way home from Mildura a couple of weeks ago. Looks real nice in the pics on their web site too. I can't get there during August but might consider mid to late September if it's still there. How did you hear about that down your hole.

As mentioned in Beths post will be heading there to support this spot. Would you believe first camped there in 1993, a Ballarat Teachers College Trip.

Have never heard of the place till now - thought I had been all over the state - but obviously missed some places! Would support the camp if I was down there! Hope they survive.

There are toilets, but is showers listed on the website, which makes me question how it gained a 4 star rating. 4 stars puts in amongst some pretty good company near the top of the heap. Could some one please confirm the matter of showers and the Star rating? Ozjohn.
