Shouldn't be dependant on internal battery if plugged into car.
IF HE doesn' get himself sorted out soon, I would hand the job over to one of the Ladies that resides therein, she never puts a foot wrong for us.

We have the tom tom and this happened to us.  So as we were directed to by the manufacturer take a pin and turn your tom tom to the back and down the bottom I think thats where it is from memory, there is a tiny hole.  Insert pin in the hole and press firmly.  This is the reset button.  See how you go.  If you have any problems yell out and I will go get mine from the car and take a pic of where it is for you and load it up here.

Here's another problem we had while away recently.  We have a Tom-Tom GPS which is usually very good.  Don't know what happened but - as the weeks passed, I noticed 'he' wasn't very well...  Started off fine in mornings and 'he' would take us to where-ever but after several hours doing 'his' duty - the screen would go sort-of grey instead of the usual colouring.  Then just couldn't get any changes in or info out.  Just like 'he' froze... Thought at first it was the heat being stuck on the windscreen for hours 'cos the next morning all was well again - for a while.... then same thing...  It got so we could not trust 'him' at the end of the day to take us anywhere....   Good thing we have paper maps etc... and had good (usually) signage...  Checked out at J-B- HiFi and was told we need to do upgrades. (We have done that since getting home)  We thought it may need a new battery but seems you can't change the battery...  There is no way to take these things apart to have a look inside....  Anybody else had this problem?...  Someone we know has gone through 3 GPS's....  Maybe just reached 'his' use-by-date... ?    Jay-Jay

My Garmin has just decided that it can't find satelites .... Off to the local Garmin accredited dealer as soon as I get a chance. 

Had a quick look & think that I could spring the case off but I'll see what he says first.

Bloody thing only cost around $100 ... might still be in warranty (< 12 months old) so I won't fiddle.

I have experienced similar problems but usually first thing in morning (Tom Tom) I thought it may be an issue with finding satellites my unit is now about 6-7 years old and sometimes the touch screen doesn't react when inputting addresses I also suspect that it may be rapidly reaching use by date.

Last unit was a Garmin that lasted till 6 weeks after warranty expired and Garmin didn't want to know me so no future Garmin purchases for me.

to reset a Garmin hold your right thumb on the bottom right corner of the screen at the same time turn the unit on while keeping your thumb on the bottom right of the screen.

But beware you will loose all of the stuff you have put into the unit, poi's, co-ords and addresses etc, you will NOT loose the maps

The soft reset is always a good idea,if your gps is giving problems,I use an old Biro.

it does often take a firmer push,than you may think.

I would aslo suggest,try and mount it down on the dash somewhere, just out of the direct sunlight,not only helps with

with cooling,but stops potential thieves from stealing it,and gives You,a clearer view of the road.

the internal antenna will still pick up the Satelites.

My Go Cruise seems to have gone on strike too. I was going to return it...this is the 2nd one...but I might try these suggestions before I do that.

If you encounter problems when out in the sticks it is most likely to be a mapping problem not a sattelite problem some companies supply better mapping than others.

If there is a bug it is more than likely the unit that has a software problem.
