Saw an ad somewhere the other day for a reel to hold extension leads. It was two discs together, that kept your power lead neat and tidy - yellow in colour, had a video on how it worked - does anyone know what they are called, and where they are available - I can't find the site - have googled but no luck.

Bunning sell them as far as I know, but be aware that the cord has to be fully unwound when using, otherwise it can catch fire from heat build up......Any cord should be fully unwound when using.....

Thanks for the input guys - knew I could count on you. And Duh, always know to have cords fully unrolled - though it is sometimes a pain in the butt!! Quite often see cords still wound around reels attached to van and power outlet - always think that it could start a fire or something, maybe short out the caravan power system. Again - thanks. Will look on amazon as well.

Yep, I did - might look into getting two - small one for the sat tv cord - which is long - and a larger for the extension lead. There were some mixed reviews on the site for them, but the most damning one shot themselves in the foot, by saying the cord got hot while using it half pulled out - shorted out their air conditioner etc., - apparently the instructions tell you to ensure cord is fully out of the winder, as several people pointed out to the complainer.
And Duh, I always feel that I would like to say something to caravaners etc., with cords only party unwound from reels, but bit wary of being seen as a busybody - I just thought that it was common knowledge that you unwound a cord fully.

Common knowledge and common sense seem to go hand in hand and there is not a lot of common sense in the world today.

remember those handline holders for fishing with the v at both ends?----i made one 3ft long and 12 inches wide out of 5 ply then wraped cord around it, it lies flat and fits nicely in storage compartment at rear of my unit. last in first out.

I have something similiar to what Kevin is describing only it is plastic and bought from Bunnings and only a bit over a foot long. It is orange and didn't cost much and lies flat in the bottom of the cupboard. It has little hooks for sticking the ends under so it doesn't unwind.

If you need a longer lead use a hose reel winder instead. I bought one from Bunnings and made a 100 metre heavy duty roll out lead for a water pump.

just get a small car rim, you may even be able to fix it to the wall of your storage compartment

Good answer Duh, Very important to fully unwind, ? especially if putting under load with a Generator or similar.
Maybe this is the one your referring to http://www.cordpro.com.au/
