I arrived home from Innamincka/Moomba this afternoon. I left last Thursday afternoon to meet the load up the Strezlecki Track. A lot of confusion due to lack of phone coverage, but all worked out in the end.
Last week I did a quickie to Melbourne before going NE.
The week before, I came home from SW Qld, after delivering a D9 to an oil field via the Strez Track. The machine broke down, and because I was the only SA pilot who knew where it was, I had to go back to escort it back to Adelaide. It turned out I only escorted it about 5 KMs. The truck broke down about 5 kms from Moomba, so I caught up with it, helped the driver and fed the poor bugger for the day, and finally escorted him and the D9 to Moomba gates.
One never is quite sure what will happen when I set out on a job. Sort of like a mystery tour. The job could be a mystery, the load could be a mystery, the destination could be a mystery, the delivery details could also be a mystery
I just arrived home this arvo, and the phone rang. "Could I go to Pt. Augusta? A pilot vehicle has broken down."
She could have phoned about 3 hours before and I could have gone straight up there. So I'm going up early tomorrow morning (Monday), and they just have to wait for me. The load, whatever it is, is going to Emerald, Qld.
It was warm up in the far north of SA. Nice to feel the sun after the hellish weather which bombarded Adelaide and the mid north last week. So now I'll feel some Qld sun in a couple of days.
Phew!!! It's all go here.
If anyone sees me out there somewhere, please call me up on UHF Channel 40, to say g'day or feel free to chat to me at the roadhouse.
I had a visit from John and Lorraine, a short time after I arrived home. I must have looked like an exhausted wreck, but I always love meeting them and other GN's. That's life!!
I hope all you GN's are enjoying your life. See you out there somewhere.

and it was good to see you again Christine even though you did look like an emotional wreck! Really, you are looking well, despite the lack of sleep.

You certainly have been busy CG. Thought you must have been away as no posts for a while. Good luck with all the very mysterious travels you do. So when do you think you will get to Emerald? Hope this trip goes well for you.
