That's early in the season. There was one in the southern half of NT today too.

We've already had a fire emergency situation with fire close to properties and while it was still officially Winter. A bit scary.

Blue mountains NSW currently has crews on standby at most Rural Fire Brigade stations today and we have been advised that the start to the official fire season will be early this year there is also a high level of concern for west of the mountains with particular emphasis on Riverina and Dubbo areas with all the grass that has cured and very prone to burn so please take care when travelling and if you see fire avoid the area as grass fires travel extremely fast.

What isn't covered with water is extremely dry. As I drover across the country I noted the dire consequences if someone should set fire to all that dry grass fuel. The crops look good just about everywhere, but elsewhere is very dry.

Very dry, dusty strong wind blowing here, perfect day for a bushfire. Scary, so early in the season.

Blowing a gale on the south coast. Very unpleasant. Hoping the fires to south are under control.
