I started in a Corolla Station wagon 2 chihuahuas, a bird and a tent. Slept in the vehicle or the tent. Had so much fun, no less than in the van, but more crowded.
Took me half an hour to squeeze in back of the Corolla at a Rest area to sleep one night, and needed a wee, as soon as I got settled. lol

Ladies my 50yr old sister wants to free camp in a proton car and travel with two dogs how many ladies have started this way alone.

I do it all the time in my van, freecamping that is. Have heard of some freecamping in a car. Depends where they will all sleep and how big the dogs are. Does she have a tent etc. I'm not that keen on tents etc because of the security, for woman alone, I like the security of being able to lock the van up for the night.

Yes Marj She has a tent and two dogs one large and one med sizeshe is going to save her money to get a van just big brother worries.

Sometimes the Dream ? Collides with Reality ?/ The Proton is a very small car, Not much room for carrying much camping equipment, as well as 2 dogs, And a host of other stuff, Really it depends on when and where and weather conditions
If it was my Sister I to would have ''Brotherly worries'', Maybe you can suggest she has a couple of Trial runs?? close to home to experience what is Really Involved, Do not try and discourage her, It is her dream, and her wish, And she may know exactly what she is doing. ?? however a couple of short. nearby trips may help her get a proper perspective .I do not think the safety side of things is a Big issue, if she is freecamping in a group situation, As long as she realises, that even though help and assistance is always available from fellow travellers, she should be self sufficient, and capable of looking after herself and the dogs, and not be expectant, or reliant on others. So if it was my sister, I would tell her to work out a little trip or two, to see if ''It Works ??'' If Yes Great ! If Not ?? Come back home, sit down ?? and work out what it will take to make it work

She is going to stay around close till she can save a bit for a van then she'll hit the road I say up and down the east coast for. A while

How does she intend to cater for the basics of life showering, toilet and maintaining her personal hygiene with clothes washing and cooking? Couldn't have any refrigeration and necessities of life equipment storage space with two dogs would be insufficient.
Nobody could last long in a small car on their own let alone with two dogs. Many locations dogs are thankfully banned which severely limits good camping locations for her. If she lasted a week in a Proton with 2 dogs would be a bloody miracle. Couple of wet cold days or seriously hot days would not even make a week.
