Hoping to get some advice / feedback & opinions of the Tekonsha controllers.
I am looking at either the Tekonsha Primus IQ or the P3 Prodigy.
What do, or have you used ??
Is one better than the other and if so Why ??

The Primus IQ is a first class controller, but the Prodigy P2 is better along with the P3 which has enhanced diagnostic features. I've used most brands of controller over many years and the Prodigy wins hands down. Ozjohn.

Daz, the Primus has the same internals as the Prodigy, It just does not have all the bells and whistles on the readout. If I was in the market at present I would be going for the Primus if there was a significant price advantage at the purchase time.
I would stick with the proportional style (eg Tekonsha) of controller. Tekonsha were big in producing the timer types (eg Redarc,) however they have completely discontinued production of them. That must indicate something about the comparative value of the two styles. I was surprised when I saw a couple of local companies now producing them.

In "days of yore" many proportional type controllers used a pendulum to detect inertia and were particularly critical on how they were mounted in the vehicle. Timer type controllers did/do not suffer this disadvantage.
However, modern technology has overcome much of this disadvantage and make them, I believe, the best choice. I have used both types and have found the proportion type such as the Prodigy much better.

Thanks Jimricho, Peterd And Ozjohn,
I can get a Primus for $100 or a Prodigy P3 for $149.
I think for the extra dollars I will get the P3.
Thanks for your input on this, very much appreciated.

Well worth the little extra cost D&S, if DIY installing read the instructions carefully, especially in regard to the negative(earth) wiring.
