Today the awning fabric was finally replaced after killing time around Dubbo for two weeks. Took the repairer in Dubbo a bit of extra time re-positioning the anti-flap-kit rails but it all worked out pretty good.
So tonight I am sitting in the Nyngan Leisure Van Park - and will be heading to Bourke either tomorrow or Friday. Then it's up to Cunnamulla/Tambo/Longreach/Cloncurry/Normanton - given the time of the year now, I will probably have to travel a bit faster than I usually do. After that who knows

RL, make sure you do not miss the Qantas 747 in Longreach, if you do miss it you must be driving with your eyes closed

Have been through Longreach previously ... visited the QANTAS Museum and the planes there. The expression comes to mind - been there, done that - and doubt if I will do it again.
However, my plan (as it stands at the moment) is to simply pass through Longreach and camp out on the river about 5km outta town - a night or two probably. And then head northward. Given a range of delaying circumstances, I am a trifle late in my journey to the far north.
That is also confirmed by the huge amount of vans coming south down the Mitchell Hwy from Bourke.

The weather is starting to warm up out there already, sending the Vic campers running south. The nights are still very cool. Take it easy and enjoy the drive. Some of that country is looking fabulous when I came through there last week. Don't be shocked by the number of dead roos. There are absolutely thousands on the roads.
