Yep Im back with more questions; Can you please tell me as a new traveller what is the process for Caravans at Free sites for "Grey Water" our van does not have a sullage tank, do we need to have one fitted? We have a sullage hose.
Im just curious because I dont want to be doing the wrong thing.

A lot of travellers attach the sullage hose and set it towards an area where it is not going to annoy, perhaps where it might water a tree etc. Otherwise pop a bucket under it and take the bucket away further for emptying.

There seems to be a lot of controversy around about letting grey water go. I don't understand why it should be a problem to water a tree away from a water catchment.

We do either of the above but definately not if there is a chance of it going into a fresh water catchment. In that situation we have a 20lt drum which we empty in a dump site or in the budsh sonewhere.

jetj, the controvery is probably about the people who leave the campsite a muddy mess after draining their grey water all over the ground right in the middle of where the next camper want to set up.... the same people leave their rubbish behind too.

Thanks Gerty,
It all comes down to thoughtless and inconsiderate actions of some, create problems for the responsible people.

Yep, they are making it harder for everybody else! I believe its frequently the reason for free camping areas to be closed down.

Run out your grey water hose to the nearest tree an tie a plastic shopping bag over the end of the hose then peirce holes in the bag to let the water out and it will capture the solids, after a few days remove the bag and place in rubbish bin.
