Got caught there recently for a night, $25 x 2Ads & had a fight with the ****roaches while trying to shower........a bit of a dust bowl with 3rd world facilities for that price, no chance of seeing us again and Caretaker advised Council were about to increase the power/water price to $28.50.
Certainly one to miss if at all possible which is a shame as the town appears to have a bit going for it plus the mountains nearby worth an explore.
Council should take a leaf out of the folk at Texas & Morven who put their money where their mouth is a truly make RV`s welcome with great facilities........still no surprise really as most Councils have no idea of promotion for the RV community and don`t like it when we point out their shortcommings.

Hi, Virgin Rock rest area 1.5 km from Springsure is supposed to be a day stop only but friends of ours stop there on their way through to visit us. Arrive late & leave early, No hassles but not for long camps. Toilets only I think. Bill

Is there a caravan park in Springsure, Whiteman? Might work out nicer and no more expensive to go there, if as you say, its a nice little town.

Hello TAJ - welcome to the site - could you put more details of the free camp - is it in the Camps book, and what facilities are there - i.e. toilet, tap??
Enjoy this forum, which can get a bit crazy at times.

In April/ May this year Rolleston, and all the other little possible campsite in the area such as next to a service station were completely full of what looked like permanents... probably miners. Also Injune .
We noticed in places like that, there was much less interest in tourists and tourism, they are under a lot of pressure with so many wanting accommodation.

We stopped at Rolleston to look at the van park we stayed at some years ago to find it taken over by miners....according to the Tourist Info Centre $40 pn for a powered site, can`t confirm that, but if true, goodbye low cost camping around there.
