We're now camped on the banks of the great Murrumbidgee River at Hay. CAW6 #524, Sandy Point Reserve.
The first part of the drive from Lake Cargilligo was just lovely. The colours of the flowers...don't ask me what they were...purples, yellows and a little white ground cover, all against the back drop of the green wheatfields. Just beautiful! But no-where to safely pull over and take a photo.
The second part brought back memories of the Barkly Highway in NT. Just miles and miles of nothing. Didn't much like that, too tiring, with nothing but saltbush to look at..and a mostly straight road to boot. No regrets though, at least I know what it looks like now.
There's a lot of water in the river, and there's actually a sandy beach to swim from...if one was silly enough to go swimming in this temperature. It's overcast, expecting 4 degrees tonight, and may be showers in the next couple of days.
Not sure how long we'll be here. Both vehicles are getting some work done tomorrow. My Lucy is having her 60,000 service, and D&L are getting new tyres. So we may only spend two nights here.

It's lovely there, we stayed last year. It was warmer then and did swim off that sandy beach area. Swimming pool in town was free.

Marj, a little over 200kms.
We didn't get away til after 10am as Lee had trouble with his lights. It's been a continuous problem for him. So it must have been after 2pm when we got here, and there were several vans already. But soon many more rolled in. There's plenty of room though. There's a 'whiz bang' nearby which was whizzing early last night, but strangely, no banging. They settled down before long anyway.
The wind blew up during the night, rattled my awning a bit but it didn't go anywhere. Then it rained and it's been raining on and off all day.
Lee had new tyres fitted, and Lucy had her 65,000kms service. Helluva lot cheaper than the Hyundai dealers at home. Think I may give them a miss in future and go to a regular mechanic. The service centre at home quoted $600 for a major service, and this bloke did it for a little under $200. Robbing bast**ds!
We also checked out the POW and Internment Camp Museum, which was very interesting, and the weir several kms down the road. Also the art work along the river.
Pam, it's currently 11 degrees, so no thoughts of swimming here. Very cold last night too. Brrr!
Tomorrow we'll be heading for Echuca, and I hope to meet a few nomads for a cuppa in Deniliquin.
