Note that the proposed route bypasses Kingaroy but you can edit and play around with it to suit your wants.
There is roadworks on the Blackbutt range on the D'Agular Hwy between Moore and Yarraman, otherwise generally a clear run. Don't know about Caboolture to Moore (near Kilcoy) or Biloela to "Happyrock". There was major works on the Calliope range between Biloela and Calliope a couple of years ago when I was last on it but that may be all finished now.
I travelled from Biloela to Esk a few weeks ago. It's quite a pleasant trip if you have the extra time.

PS: Lets not complain too much about the roadworks on the Bruce Highway, they're a bit of a pain but desperately needed!

We came down from Duaringa a couple of months ago the road from Biloela via Monto, Mundubbera, Goomeri and across to Kilkivan, Gympie then down the Bruce Highway to Caboolture.
We went across from Goomeri to Gympie as we were advised that there was long holdups at the road works around the blackbutt area.
With all the roads we traversed you shouldn't have any problems with you Falcon and 17ft Van.
I believe some of the new highway is open south of Gympie, but still alot of road works.
Roads between Biloela and Goomeri where ok.
Road between Goomeri and Gympie Good.
Bruce Highway from Gympie to Caboolture Good but slow.
Can't comment on the Dawson Highway between Biloela ande Gladstone.

Hi, Does anyone know how long it takes to drive just a car from Caboolture to Gladstone going up the back way through kingaroy, Gayndah, Monto, Biloila, Calliope?
Also, is there any hills not suitable for a 6 cyl. falcon towing our van? We are looking into this way because others on the forum have said there is roadworks on the main highway.

Went that way in May this year. Roads okay for your rig. Although you will not get away from roadworks they are everywhere in Queensland.

Rocket I think the way you should go is stick to the Bruce Highway traveled it from both ways this year the road detors are well managed , the trip is a little slower but I enjoyed that fact . But make dure you make use of the google maps that Jimricho allways so kindly present and his coment of what is all so going on inland and at Caboolture you are on the Bruce Highway why drive west to go north and 2hours extra time on the road and more fuel

Yes when we went through I was told they working seven days a week , but we found the road work stops were no more than 10 mins at a time and when you got to go it was all plain sailing , you will still avg about 80 klm in the hour , But after you start going again some drivers will want to make up time wonce through the road work so just let them go and you will have the road to yourself

We drove that way last year and again in March this year. It's a nice drive and the roads are not as crowded or dangerous and the Bruce Goat Track. Whoop! I meant Bruce Highway. OJ
