Stopped off at a rest area last night just west of Glen Innes and it was a little cold overnight. Woke up to find the outside temp 4 degrees. Headed off for b/fast at Macca's only to find it snowing as we went over the range and into town. Looks like its snowed most of the night and as we sit here sipping our coffees it's still snowing quite heavily. We are headed for Grafton today so it looks like we will have this with us for some time. Must admit it looks lovely and reminds us of home.a bit hard to take. We were in 37 degree days only about two weeks ago and have had to drag out the cold gear. Well such is life on the road, love it.
Take care out there

Hi Brian and Cheryl,
We are still in lightning ridge, its not snowing but it is cold, little rain juring the night and windy - what can you say about snow, it is amazing. Thinking of doing a u-turn and heading back to Qld. One might have to think about including snow chains in the back just for emergencies. Anyway have a frolic, take care and enjoy.

Think I may leave off heading south for a few more weeks yet. I do not like the cold. I haven't been out of short sleeves and 3/4 pants since Easter. Determined to stay that way.

I'm not surprised it's snowing at Lithgow, the wind is definitely coming off snow, it's freezing and was 30 degrees a few days ago here.

At 71 years of age, I have never seen it snowing. That's SE Qld for you.
Took the children to the resorts near Canberra one year & played in the snow. Took lots of photos but with no film in the old 35mm camera.

There was so much hail last night on the South Coast it looked like snow... cold too.

I'm in Nimbin, which is nowhere near as high (well, not in that sense, anyway) but it's been a windy and chilly day, and a local told me that the New England Highway had been closed at Guyra. Just been sent a photo of a decent dusting of snow from the Blue Mountains too. A couple of caravans were here last night (Nimbin Showgrounds) but both moved on today, which was a brave call in the wind here if you ask me.
Would have been a great day to be heading east with that wind - between that and descending off the range you probably have more fuel in the tank at Grafton than you did when you started out!

Hi Spice, sorry we missed you today. We did not stop in Grafton, instead pulled up a bit south for lunch. Did not look at the site until well down the coast on the way to Kempsy to catch up with JC and Kiwi-as. Once again, sorry we missed you. Hopefully when we get up this way again or on the road somewhere.
All the best
