Currently there is only one approved manufacturer of satelitte TV receivers for the new VAST system. It is not of high quality and does not run on 12 volts.
Many people on this forum were hoping another manufacturer (Strong) would produce some competition. Apparently not.

The current Altech decoder can be bought already converted to run on 12v however it is close to double the normal price.
I bought the 240v one and got a $20 inverter from ebay which worked fine on our trip we just got home from.
Cheers Neil

I am running 12 volt through a pure sinewave inverter and the quality is High Def Digital really great picture (Altech), very satisfied with our reception anywhere in Aust.

We, also, have not had a problem with the Aldech decoder box - good reception wherever we have been.
Just received this today.....Bugger!
