Are there any greynomads who use Facebook, or, should I say, are there any recommended greynomad Facebooker's??

A lot of us will be on Facebook but not all of us want the two to be connected. I would not like a link to click on going to my facebook page. There are some things I would rather keep private from my kids. lol

I'm a reluctant face-book user, to keep in touch with my kids. I found if you type 'greynomads" into"search for friends" you get several people or groups, none seem to have any connection to this forum though

I like facebook, I have reconnected with many friends I have lost contact with over the last 50 odd years. As far as a Facebook group I started one before I even knew this forum existed but I havn't really pushed it for fear of upsetting this forum but for FYI http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/119045968140431/ ( Grey Nomads) You only have to put on Facebook what you want others to know

I dont trust facebook either so dont want a link. I find it hard to accept that something that was supposed to be a place to find and chat to friends has been taken over by business. Seriously - are you going to be a friend of the ATO on facebook....

Didn't know you could be a friend with the ATO on Facebook Spida. Thats a bit much.
I am on Facebook and thats how I keep in touch with all my family and friends, especially the ones overseas.
I am on Grey Nomads and I want to keep the two separate. I see no reason to have my family being able to click a link into grey nomads on facebook and reading all my conversations with my grey nomad friends. Thats where the privacy issue comes in. The young ones want their privacy, so do us older ones.

I am also a non facebook fan, but I do not see why a link would not be ok on this site, I would not click on it but others may find it useful.

Oh HW, we just posted at the same time, I would not be in favour of it if it went direct you a members page, just to the facebook site would be enough, I did not realise it would be a link direct to (for instance) your page.
A no vote from me.

If I "Liked" it or what ever else you can do with a link. It would show up on my page. I presume anyone I am friends with would then be able to click on it and go in for a read. Thats how the others all work. But thats ok for others on here. If it did come in I just would not click on any links to connect it to my facebook.

Thanks everyone for your responses, some very interesting comments. I would like a link to the webpage only, not the forum, as i agree that i wouldn't want a continual stream of comments coming through my facebook page. A link to the website home page may alert travellers of weather, road and emergency conditions, where you could respond only if you felt like it (forum privacy and facebook friendship privacy would be a matter of individual choice). But that would be another job for somebody, having to maintain that link, and i have opened my big mouth too many times in the past and landed myself in some very heavy duty volunteering positions, so i'm not volunterring for this one. I will definitely be adding any greynomaders to my Facebook page when we hit the road again, it is a great tool when used in the right way, ie, never post anything if don't want to world to see it (there is a private instant message facility attached to your Facebook page which you use for that kind of stuff).

About the same time I put it at the bottom of my page. I love it, something I had never heard before.

A huge NO to this site having anything to do with facebook .
Not the forum, but The Grey Nomads book might have, see this link click on the tab on the left called "Share This Page".
I am not on Facebook so can't veryify if it is and not really sure what it means, see;

If you have trouble with the link, go to the GN website main page, click on the book and then click on buy direct from the publisher....
