Hi everyone
I'm sure this has been asked before so thanks in advance
My parter and I are in the last six month lead up to taking a year of for the big lap and I am systematically going through what we need to do to plan/set us up for the trip
One thing I am a bit worried about is how to store our personal documents and valuable in the van. As we are moving out of our home and not really wanting to leave these thing is storage I was wondering how other store them in their vans securely?
Do people use lock boxes? Safes? Or just hide it somewhere.
I've heard some horror stories about things going missing from vans
Thanks again

I'm not sure about others but I'm lucky, I dont have many valuables. However. For the few we do have there is one of those fireproof safes from bunnings bolted to the floor under one of the seats, usually under a bit more junk. Only things we keep there are passports, my medals, some of SWMBO jewerly and any gemstones we might find.

Gday...
I don't have any "valuables" but I have fire-proof metal box thingy which is marked "Important Papers" .... which is where I store them. Included in those "important papers" are photocopies of ALL my cards etc so that if wallet stolen, I have copies so I can remember all I have and report them accurately.
cheers - John

The most expensive things I have is my false teeth and glasses and they are always with me. I am not fussed on expensive jewellery only pretty fake stuff. Carry all my money and cards with me. so no need to have a safe. good luck.

We are another safe under the bed couple which is bolted through the floor when sleeping it is a great place for valuables and a colour photo copy of our cards, rego papers,Insurance policy etc and when not in the van can be sure that important stuff cannot be stolen,

We still have a house so keep the originals of EPOA, Wills, insurance docs, passports, whatever, locked up at home and carry copies in that safe in the van. If you dont have a home anymore it might be a good idea to leave copies (or the originals) of important things with a family member or even a safety deposit box at a bank. Caravans have been known to burn, are those safes fireproof? Ours looks a bit too cheap to withstand a fire methinks.

Thanks everyone. I think the safe is the was to go :) it's more for things like insurance papers and passports but the idea of leaving copies with a family member is a great one thanks :)
