Hi all! Sorry that some of you were worried about me. We camped at Mystery Bay for 2 nights where the 'bible' says there's service but no go. My daughter was texting me, and I had to go roaming around the park to be able to reply.
So...The Primitive Camp at Mystery Bay (CAW #621) was a beautiful spot right on the beach. Quite busy with campers, but not intrusive. Previous to that we came through the beautiful countryside of Bega, Tilba etc. Yes, we stopped at the cheese places, but alas I had to forgo the cheese, as my digestive system doesn't like it.
Today we're at Lake Tabourie, south of Ulladulla. On the way here, we stopped at Mogo Zoo. What a fabulous place! It was very hot, but I managed to see everything.

We came straight through from Lake Tabourie today, with a stop in Ulladulla for groceries etc. Gee it's a busy coastline, after where we've been! Back to the big smoke temporarily. By the way, that CP at the lake was really good last night. We were close to amenities, all was very clean, and it was only $25 for seniors.
Tonight we're at Killalea State Park CAW 6 #590, which is between Kiama and Shellharbour. There are showers and toilets, and lots of kids on a school camp. So we made sure we had our showers early, so we didn't have to share with 30 squealing girls! Our vans are well away from them anyway.
We're high on a hill, and apparently there are 2 great beaches down below...I believe them but I'm not hiking down to see them!
The cost here is $15 p/p/p/n. A little steep for a couple when there's no power.

We had a good run this morning from Killalea to Richmond. We left just after 9.30 as advised by GN's, so the traffic wasn't too bad. But geez I'm glad I was following sis & bil with their TomTom. I didn't find it stressful at all! And I got a bit of a buzz out of climbing the mountain successfully, even though I got a little tangled up with trucks at the first section. I didn't realise we were coming to a big climb and the 2 left lanes were for trucks. (Signage on the road doesn't give enough notice.) The truck in the far left lane was crawling, then there were two others in the centre lane. So I got jammed in for a couple of minutes. But I managed to give them the slip and off I went up the mountain.
So we're now at Wanderest at Richmond. But let me tell you if you haven't been here before, it's not free! The 'bible' doesn't have a dollar sign, and the website says free, but it's not. You HAVE to join the Richmond Club at $4 and pay $10 p/n for power. Yes, that's a very good price, I'm not compalining about that, but the fact is nowhere does it say it'll cost. (I actually wondered why it would be free.)
Anyway, it's part of the club carpark, so we're on bitumen, but there's a nice grassy area nearby, and the RAAF base is not far away so planes sound like they're going to land on us. I hope they don't fly at night!
All in all, it's not what I was led to believe, but it's cheap!

Free without power I believe after $4 to join the club. I believe there are quite a few using it these days, another forum mentioned there were 30 to 40 vehicles there one day.

I can see that it would be very popular, particularly if one wanted to get the train into Sydney.
We decided to have dinner at hte club, seeing we had to join. Very busy place, and good food. There'd been a storm lurking around, and just as we decided to leave, it started sprinkling. We had to walk very briskly, although after such a hot day, the sprinkles were nice on our backs. We'd just gotten into our vans and down it came. Wooshka! Poured for about an hour.

The cordinates take you to the western side of the river, but the showgrounds are actually on the eastern side. The riverisn't flowing at the moment..if it had been, we would have been in it.
There's plenty of room..we had a lovely shady spot..and toilets. Apparently there's a tap near the toilets too. I didn't use the toilet so can't comment on the cleanliness of them. I'm surprised they allow camping there as there's a CP just as you enter the road.
It was 38 degrees, hence why I didn't go walkabout.
We decided to split up from there as sis&bil wanted to go to the coast via Grafton, and I just wanted to get home ASAP, as I'm not well. But on reaching Armidale and 39 degrees, I changed my mind and came down through Grafton too. That road is very rough and twists and turns a lot..I don't think I'd use it again..but it was beautiful scnery along the 'top'. I stopped for lunch at a quaint little place in Ebor. Love those little country eateries. Always good food.
So I've ended up in a CP at Iluka, right on the beautiful Clarence River. Even though I'm close to home now, I chose to stay here in the breeze for 3 nights of chillaxin before hitting the heat of Greenbank, where Lulu hibernates.

Hi Beth Glad you made it up the mountain and to Wanderest. Folk will be interested to know that the Richmond Club is planning on extensions to the caravan parking area because it has become so popular. Relax at Iluka.

We spent the next night at Bendemeer Showgrounds. It's not in CAW, but I found it on http://ozcamps.net/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29
