I plan to spend Christmas Day and Boxing Day with my little family...we've already had the BIG family party...sister, brothers, nieces, nephews etc etc.
Then I'm going to hook up the van and go up to my sister's at Tin Can Bay for a week or so, along with my son, dil, and grandaughter. That should be lots of fun as her kids will be there too, and who knows who else will turn up. When the beds run out, we bring our own!
I've recuperated well from my ill health on my return from Victoria, so looking forward to getting away again. But I'll still be taking it easy. Way too hot to get too energised!

As we have no family or friends in the area, we are heading down the Yorke Peninsula on Sunday, Christmas lunch at The Inland Sea Restaurant, where we can also free camp. New Year we will still be down on the peninsula, probably beach bumming it somewhere on one of the many reserves amongst the dunes. Back to Adelaide in time for Cirque du Soleil on 5th Jan (christmas pressy from/to each other), then heading west towards WA, via Eyre Peninsula.

Big extended family day for us as usual. Son, Daughter & their in-laws plus a few cose friends.
This year at my son's new place .. pool + Air Con ... we all get on well together & SWMBO drives home.
Traditional this year with hot dishes eaten in the Air Con away from the flies ... turkey, baked ham (by me), roast pork loin & crackling (by SWMBO), seafood , with all the trimmings and christmas stuff including bon-bons, silly hats & jokes.
I have a box of selected reds & whites put away for the day (we try to impress each other with the reds) .
S in L has a collection of boutique beers (drunk from chilled pilsner glasses & we discuss their merits like you might with good red)
Son & his F in L do home made spirits for mixers (we pretend that we are expert drink mixers).
All in good fun & way over the top of course.
The day starts with present exchange under the XMAS tree ... chaos. Then there's the after lunch entertainment for the grand children - jumping castle, water slide & a cricket pitch in the front yard.
Big head ache & maybe a touch of gout on boxing day for me. Must remember to put a large jug of iced water in front of me to control the alcohol intake.
SWMBO & I usually go to Gold Class movie late show on New Years Eve (usually score a few tickets as XMAS presents & I sneak in most of my own food & drinks, much to SWMBOs disgust) & afterwards watch the fireworks at a local pub (The Glen), from our front verandah over coffee.

On my pat malone, as usual, kicked back around a camp fire staring at the stars..... might do that xmas eve, as well, Boxing Day too, heck might even give it a go tonite. lol. Just another day. I might drive on xmas day, good day for travel, much better than driving on Boxing Day or xmas eve, when all the idiots are on the road.
it can be difficult being alone sometimes but it becomes even more obvious at these sort of times, you see all the folk getting together etc.
Thought about getting myself a sheila, but at my age I can't help but think, "WHAT IN HELL FOR" LOL

We have our kids and the Other Halfs sister and dad coming over. At this stage, no rings ins but its early yet.
Four guys will be on shift so we may invite them for lunch and a giggle, better than sitting in the station.
I love Xmas, its my favourite time. Its all so sparkly.

Cbristmas Day is also my birthday, since we've been on the road usually John does the whole roast thing (in our electric frypan, we don't have an oven in the van) but this year we're going to be in Canberra and we're going out for lunch, we've booked at Rydges (I think that's it anyway). Love the fact that as its my birthday I can just sit back and be looked after, think John is planning on loving not having to do the looking after this year!

Clean the trailer out as normal for xmas where I used to clean the shed.
One of the joys of solo travel.
Never know the kids might even ring but wont hold my breath waiting.
Hope all enjoy the day as they wish.

Christmas Day (and the rest of the week) with my parents - Boxing Day with the extended family - and no other plans just yet but I may be able to get away for a few days somewhere along the track.
Cheers, Helen

Couple of hours drive to Parkes for Christmas lunch with my parents (91 & 84) plus brothers with their families. Then drive back to Gulgong for Christmas dinner with most of my kids & their families (Sandra's lot are all interstate). Then during the first week of January we'll take the castle for a slow trip (probably around 12 days) to Perth for a bit of time with my youngest daughter, granddaughter until after my newest grandchild is born. We'll also be able to spend time with Sandra's eldest son, his wife & two sons who live there as well. We fully intend to have a great Christmas & a safe, happy New Year (many of them) & would love to see you all enjoy it as much.
