We,ve got 140mm of rain here on Magnetic island, since xmas. Weather was great over xmas and new year. The hottest I,ve seen is 49c at Barwon heads , of all places, the days before the big fires in Victoria, a few years ago. Its about 33c to 24c here at the moment, and 75% humidity.I get religious,at this time of year, and worship the 4As- aircon, armchairs , austar, and alcohol.........Bill

Listening to weather reports this morning seems as if the whole of Australia is bracing for some really hot summer weather. Please take care everyone.
Seems we are heading for conditions similar to 4 years ago when the bushfires in Victoria were at their worse. Whilst it is good to know about the extreme conditions it also seems to give the crazies out there, the push along they need to get the matches out and start the bush fires.
Take care all and stay safe. Fire activity can always be observed by watching the different states fire websites, eg: CFA in Vic, CFS in SA, not sure what the other states are.
Happy camping.

.. quite right Sharon ..
I arrived here in Tamworth yesterday .. this area is like a tinderbox here too .. and I noticed that the local area forecast for the next 7 days will vary between 41 and 34 ..
Much the same elsewhere I'd say ..

No rain to speak of in Qld yet either. Very unusual. My friend on the Atherton Tablelands tells me there's been no rain up there either, which is even more strange.

Seems to be the same all over. Will be staying inside with the air con going. There is always some idiot that thinks Total Fire Ban and Dangerous Conditions, thinks its funny to go out with the matches to see what happens. They should be strung up when found, preferably in a burning tree.

Totally agree Marj. I'll help you string them up!
It's actually a bit windy today, so may be a little cooler, but we're on high fire danger too.

Yep, I agree as well Beth and Marj just make sure all the local people from that area are standing around to watch.
We shouldn't really say things like this but it does make you wild doesn't it.
I was involved with the Ash Wednesday and Black Saturday Fires and don't really want to go through something like that again.
Keep safe out there everyone and,

We went to Rockhampton at Christmas and were surprised that it very dry there, although further north Bill12 said they are getting lotsa rain on Magnetic Is. Very dry on south coast NSW too, but not hot. (yet) Cant think of anything more scary that being caught in a bushfire, hope all of those who are bush-camping have a radio signal at least.

I will be heading north in about 2 weeks. Hope the weather stays mild for my trip. I don't need bushfires or floods or anything else hazardous on my way.

I like that Bill, I might use that myself. I couldn't handle that humidity. Bad enough here in Brisvegas.

Hope all our friends in Tasmania are safe tonight, and keeping an eye on Bush Fires down there. Tasmania has at least 3 Fires under way at the moment.
