Thanks for the advice.
Not sure I want to drive from Qld through an oven and a furnice unless the destination's maxium is in the very low 20's.
Think I might just turn on the air con.

your thinking is just like mine at the moment - where to next. Maybe a week at the Werribee beach then have another think about it. And here is me thinking I needed to avoid the floods further north....... and that 'down here' was cool and green! Silly Kiwi!

Last trip in November got so hot I realised I was not having fun
Best place not far away, so went home to my 40acres and the airconditioning. Keeping cool and checking google earth to plan the next trip.

If you're in the Wide Bay area and just want somewhere with a bit of shade and a place to swim while you wait out the heat, try Smith's Crossing just north of Bundaberg. Since the bridge washed away it's a nice quiet place where you can spend a while if you are self-contained. Hmmmm, there is a toilet block and you can swim there so I guess there's not much more you'd need unless power is a must-have for you.
If you can get to the above link you will see that New Guinea or New Zealand is the place yo be.

Off to Christchurch, Akaroa and then the Marlborough Sounds in the South island for 12 days. Fishing, not swimming as it is freezing in the water. Surrounded by beautiful bush.
Hopefully we catch plenty of fish, mussells and just live off the fruits of the sea.
I havent been back home since the earth quake so it will be a big shock for me.
Keep smiling as life is great.
